John Gregory : March 02,2003 Hi, if you've found this site you're seeing the second to last incarnation of FEED. This was quite a good line up, but Eyal the bassist and I had a falling out. Steve the drummer, sided with Eyal and that was the end of the line-up. We did a bootleg recording of 5 songs, recorded by Eyal's Brother at Electric Uzu West ( My Studio ). The sound was pretty good, however the performances were not that great. You may find copies of this recording Titled "FEED Fried". I hope that Feed will continue in some form or other. I'm not sure if the current project I've got going will be called FEED or something else. Current line up is: Chris Scheckler on Bass, James DeBeau on drums, and myself on guitar. We've had Rob down a few times feeling things out, but his project Murasheen is starting to take off now and it may prevent his involvement in the near future.
***UPDATE***: May 07,2003 Well Hell, We've got quite a group now, Chris bowed out on bass and Brian Duege has joined the band. Brian has quite a resume of several successful projects including "Aunt Betty's Ford" signed to Elektra. Brian has brought some great input to the project including his own material and lots of suggestions on arrangements. He really sounds great and is a riot to jam with. The songs are coming together very tight, with a strong punk influence. We are trying to sort the name thing out. Any ideas? Call me at 714-296-6713. We expect to be doing shows in June. Rob and Karlsten's band played last Saturday in Fullerton. I talked to Tammy (Rob's lovely wife) and she said the show was great.
John's History: I started playing drums while in grade school. I saved up money from the paper route, and my dad found a silver sparkle Ludwug while visiting Aunt Grace in St. Louis. He tied down the trunk on the '67 Plymouth and we brought it home.
To be honest, I didn't have a clue how to play a kit. Later, I sold the Kit to Mike Ufer when I got a guitar and watching him play it all made sense. We made a band, first gig was at the Sawmill where we promptly blew up the house P.A. during "Ticket to Ride". We also played at the BOGI,
with Brian Kirshke as our "ringer" on guitar. Dale Dumbril, a guy named Brett, and a guy named Jeff played in that band. We tried Susan Weber and Mark Aldrich out on vocals. Surprisingly, Mark is quite a singer!!
In the Air Force, I met my good friend( now guitar builder and designer ), Frank Bromely. Frank and I played some and hooked up upon my return from Japan. In Japan, I played in several bands, including a Japanese band "Zukin". With Zukin and The AM (Anti-Matter)band, we played around the Tokyo suburbs including the
Electric Uzu in Fusa, and several shows on various Military installations. Memorable times in Japan included gigs with Japanese hard rock masters Bad Scene, and jams I had with Yamaguchi Fujio. The Japanese were very gracious and always willing to let me get up on stage and screw things up. Many fond memories.
